How to Apply

1. Complete an application for entry to MCDS available online here. The application includes submission of recent grade reports, test scores, and a class visit.

2. Complete a Rising Hawk Scholarship application supplement which includes an essay and a list of extracurricular activities. The application supplement will be available in January.

Who is eligible for a Rising Hawk Scholarship?

New students applying for eligible grades (5-11) for the 2022-2023 school year are eligible for scholarship awards.

What types of Rising Hawk Scholarships will be awarded?

Award levels range in size. Award types include renewable (through graduation from MCDS High School) and one-time awards.

Can a Rising Hawk Scholarship be awarded for multiple years?

Rising Hawk Scholarships may take the form of one-time or renewable financial awards. Recipients will be notified of the award type and amount.

Are there other types of tuition assistance available?

Yes. When you apply to the school, you can also apply for MCDS Financial Aid. MCDS Financial Aid is awarded on a single-year basis, so families apply each year.

What are the criteria for a successful Rising Hawk Scholar?

While there is no one ideal applicant, motivated students that exhibit the characteristics of an MCDS Rising Hawk Scholar—fierce work ethic, relentless pursuit of learning, creative approach to challenges, commitment to their communities—are strongly encouraged to apply. The Scholarship Committee will review applicants’ academic history, involvement in activities, writing sample, and recommendations to assess the above criteria.
